You search and keep on searching and examining the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and yet it is those [very Scriptures] that testify about Me.
When Jesus said, “You search the Scriptures,” He was speaking to people who knew the Word of God backward and forward. They read it, memorized it, and even debated it. They believed that within the pages of Scripture they would find eternal life and blessing.
But here’s the tragedy: they missed Him; Jesus. The very Word they studied pointed to Jesus, yet their eyes never recognized Him.
It is important to know what the Greek word for “search” means. It means far more than just a casual glance. It carries the idea of digging, investigating, and hunting with intensity, like a miner digging for hidden gold would search.
Sadly, many Christians today are satisfied with a quick browse through the Bible like when we skim the headlines of a newspaper or scroll through social media. But the Bible is not a shallow puddle. It is a deep ocean, filled with treasures of wisdom, healing, and hope. And if we want to receive what God has for us, we must dive deep.
The Bible is not like any other book. It is alive. It burns like fire, it beats with life, and it overflows with hope and promise. Every page carries the breath of God. Every verse points us to His Son.
That means when you are searching for answers or solutions or hope or peace, or strength in your struggle, you will always find that the answer is Jesus.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible shouts one mighty Name, Jesus!
• He is the Lamb who was slain.
• He is the Bread of Life.
• He is the Living Water.
• He is the Resurrection and the Life.
Only when you find Him do you find eternal life, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the glory of the Living God.
So, don’t read the Bible just to check off a box on your to-do list. Don’t search it only for information. Open it to encounter Jesus. Let the Scriptures testify to you about the Savior who loves you, redeems you, and walks with you every day.
Because everything you are searching for, peace, joy, strength, eternal life, is found in Him.
