16 I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit.
17 Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
A thought for today.
You can have a house in a nice neighborhood, clean floors, nice things, and people around you—
and still feel empty.
Not long ago, I had a vision that shook me. I saw homes all over this community—some beautiful, some broken, some chaotic, some quiet. And even though people lived in them, many didn’t feel like homes.
And then I saw what broke my heart:
Jesus was standing outside—going from house to house—knocking.
Not angry. Not forcing His way in. Just patiently calling for someone to open the door.
That’s when the Lord brought this to my mind:
Revelation 3:20 (NLT)
“Look! I stand at the door and knock…”
Jesus isn’t trying to be a once-in-a-while visitor. He’s not asking for Sundays only. He’s knocking because He wants to become the center of your life, your heart, your home, your family, your church.
And He won’t kick the door down.
He waits for an invitation.
Why this matters.
The enemy has been fighting homes for a long time, turning them into war zones: division, addiction, depression, lust, anger, silence, coldness, hurt, and other such things.
But God is raising up people again, not just preachers in pulpits, but intercessors in living rooms. Families who will say, “Jesus, come in. This isn’t just my house anymore, this is Your home.”
A warning and an invitation
Jesus spoke Revelation 3:20 to the church in Laodicea, a church that was doing “church,” but wasn’t close to Him. They had activity, but no fire. They looked full, but they were spiritually empty.
That’s a word for us too: it’s possible to be busy for God and still be distant from God.
But here’s the good news for us, He’s still knocking.
Three doors to open today
1) Open the door of your heart.
If there are rooms locked up by pain, disappointment, church hurt, control, or secret sin, just invite Him in anyway. Jesus isn’t afraid of what you’re hiding. He’s waiting for access.
2) Open the door of your home.
Like Joshua said (Joshua 24:15), decide together: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” You don’t have to be perfect. Just willing.
3) Open the door of the church.
Jesus isn’t looking for a stage. He’s looking for a people who are true worshipers (John 4:23–24). Not a house full of activity, but a home full of His presence.
My Prayer for You…
Jesus, I hear the knock. I recognize Your voice. I’m opening the door.
Come into every hidden place, my heart, my home, my family, and my church.
Turn my house into a home: a home of peace, healing, holiness, joy, and Your presence.
No more emptiness. No more cold religion. No more lukewarm living.
Come dine with me, Lord. Make Yourself at home.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
